About the HEAT for Team Members Course
The HEAT for Team Members course is designed for individuals deploying to hostile or high-risk, complex environments as part of, but not limited to security teams, NGO & humanitarian aid workers, corporate, or media teams. The training covers essential personal safety, security, and team-based operational competencies through a series of classroom-delivered presentations, and immersive, scenario-driven learning.
Participants will engage in key subject areas such as threat awareness, movement under duress, basic trauma care, situational decision-making, and emergency response; all within the context of team operations. Whether responding to an ambush, dealing with civil unrest, or navigating legal or illegal checkpoints, participants will develop the practical skills and confidence to remain calm, make sound decisions, and contribute to team safety in extremely complex environments.

The course is aimed at the following target audience:
- Security personnel, NGO staff, corporate travellers, corporate staff, journalists, and support staff operating as part of a deployed team in unstable or insecure regions.
- Individuals preparing for missions in conflict zones, post-disaster areas, or politically volatile locations.
- Those with limited prior experience in hostile environments who require practical, team-based preparation.
- No previous hostile environment training is required to attend this course.
- Basic physical fitness and a willingness to participate in hands-on, scenario-based exercises.
- English proficiency (or course delivery language) sufficient for safety and communication requirements.
Upon completion of this Course, course participants will receive a Certificate in Hostile Environment Awareness Training for Team Members
